Break Your Little Heart (All Time Low Cover)

So yeah. This is basically all I do around here anymore. What started as a music blog, then turned into a whatever blog, then turned into a movie blog, has now seemingly come full circle.

Whatever, it’s still fun for me!

She Goes Around (The Damnwells Cover)

I feel like these covers are the only thing that keeps me regularly posting. For some reason I totally have the energy to spend hours recording and mixing and editing these videos, but 20 minutes writing a post is too much….

WHATEVS! Here’s a cover of “She Goes Around” by the AMAZING and CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED band The Damnwells. Enjoy!

Whatsername (Green Day Cover)

More cover funtimes! This time I decided to make a cover of the Green Day song “Whatsername” (from “American Idiot”). The music actually turned out REALLY well this time, although the vocals are (as always) spotty.

Yeah, singing is not exactly my forte. But whatevskies.

Also, back to the split screen cover (in case anyone had seen some of my earlier YouTube covers from last year.) I think the video in particular turned out much better than my previous attempts. So yay for progress!

Wait So Long (Trampled By Turtles Cover)

Hello all!

I didn’t want to study for my Psych final, so I made this last week. It’s a cover of..well, a cover of the Motion City Soundtrack cover of the Trampled By Turtles song “Wait So Long.”

Whew. That’s a mouthful. Enjoy!

The Revolution Will Not Be Kickstarted

I tend to be a bit on the obsessive side when it comes to my television habits. There are few shows that I just “watch.” I am a banner-waving Whovian, Browncoat, and Banana Stand Patron. I have a yearly ritual of rewatching each new season of Futurama as it comes out on Netflix.  I even do a third thing that further exemplifies my geekiness in a hilarious manner!1

And I am fucking ecstatic about the Veronica Mars movie.

For the 0.001% of you who don’t know, last week, Rob Thomas, the creator of the cult show Veronica Mars launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for a feature film adaptation of the show. The campaign was looking for $2 million, and within 24 hours managed to get $3.5 million. Meaning, the movie is getting made (breaking a few Kickstarter records in the process!)

Within minutes of hearing about the campaign, I promptly tweeted, Facebook-i-fied, and of course donated. Evidently my reaction was a popular one, considering the rapid pace with which the two million dollar barrier was breeched.

BUT, my reaction, and the reaction of other ecstatic Marshmallows, was not the only voice cast out into the interwebs in the wake of this.

By and large the general debate over this Veronica Mars phenomenon has split into two categories: those who are wary and distrustful of it, and those who refuse to give a shit because “EHRMAGERD VERONICA MARS MOVIE!!!!!!” I’d like to be neither of those camps. My personal belief: this is a fluke. An awesome fluke, but really nothing that will drastically change things for anyone who is not on the cast and crew of the Veronica Mars movie. I believe that some criticisms are valid, but I don’t think this will do much to change the shape of the movie industry as we know it.

However, let’s look at some of the naysayers. Two in particular!

Thrills ‘n Chills

I have no plans on sleeping for the next ten weeks.

Why do I say that, you ask? Because I will be watching an ABSURD amount of horror film for the next few months. And why am I subjecting myself to such cinematic thrills? Two reasons: 1) I am taking a film studies class on horror next quarter (AWESOME!!!) and 2) for Christmas I got a box set of 50 classic horror movies. So not only do I now own 62 hours and 20 minutes of classic, black & white, public domain terror, but I will be watching some of it for credit.

Moral of the story, my life is awesome, and expect a lot of me geeking out about horror for the next few months. Brace yourself, lads ‘n lasses. It should be a fun ride.
